Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
